President Donald Trump and Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin on Feb. 12 announced the elimination of a 2009 finding that served as the basis of U.S. action to regulate greenhouse gas emissions. "Effective immediately, we are repealing the ridiculous endangerment finding and terminating all additional green emissions standards imposed unnecessarily on vehicle models and engines between 2012 and 2027 and beyond," Trump said during an event at the White House. "These crippling restrictions were a major factor in driving up car prices to unprecedented levels, and the car that you were getting was not nearly as good." The EPA's "endangerment finding" from 2009, established under the Obama administration, declared that six gases—carbon dioxide, hydrofluorocarbons, methane, nitrous oxide, perfluorocarbons, and sulfur hexafluoride—pose a danger to public health. The finding concluded that the gases endangered current and future public health and contributed to climate change. Subsequent regulations based on the finding include vehicle emissions standards, the Clean Power Plan, and other limits on methane, oil, and gas. (More) |

The chaos caused by millions of illegal immigrants flooding across the southwest border under the Biden administration left scars on this border town. The constant high-speed chases, buzzing helicopters, screaming emergency sirens, hurried school lockdowns, torn barbed-wire fences, and decomposing bodies on ranches and along the Rio Grande all took their toll on Texas towns near the Mexican border. The border crisis drained resources and changed the lifestyle of Brackettville, a little town with two traffic light intersections in Kinney County, Texas. Residents of the county and beyond said the madness stopped almost overnight after President Donald Trump took office. Now they say the chaos of illegal immigration has just moved into the country's interior to places that include Minnesota. Illegal border crossings plummeted to record lows after Trump took office. In fiscal year 2025, Customs and Border Protection reported 443,000 encounters at the southwest border with Mexico. In 2024, that number stood at a little less than 2.5 million. (More) |

| | There's a sudden and tremendous interest in eating real food. I'm watching the great Mike Tyson on stage with Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., kicking off a wonderful campaign for real food. It's not just these two. It's the whole of public health and the campaign has gained powerful cultural resonance. (Read more) |
